System Administrator Application

Type : Server Application

What does it do? Why would you use it?

The System Administrator application is used to setup basic information about your specific installation of CyberTime It keeps track of your basic company information as well as configurations for aspects of the server and the workstations. The System Administrator should be the first application you run on the server once you have installed the Server Package.

You will be guided through various screens requesting various information about your company and how you want CyberTime 6.0 to work. You can select the System Administrator application by selecting it from the C:\CT6\Server sub-folder, or by selecting it from the menu option under the Windows Start / Programs / CyberTime 6.0 program folder.

When you run the System Administrator, you will see the System Administrator login screen.

The default Master User Name and Password are ADMIN and PASSWORD. Enter these each in the text boxes asking for the Master User Name and Password and click the LOGIN button. It highly recommended that you change these setting.

Company Information Page

Once you login, the first screen of CyberTime 6.0 settings will appear. If you have miss-typed the Master User Name or Password, you will not be allowed access.

Server Configuration Page

This is a good time to enter your company information. Once you have completed these fields, select the tab at the top marked "Server Configuration."

This page is a configuration options section for various server settings. These features can deal with security and basic accounts management operations.

The first section deals with bill printing options. If you want a bill to automatically printed when it is created with the Accounts Manager, select the Auto-Print Accounts Manager Bill/Statement check box. Once done, you must select the printer that this system will print a bill to. In addition, you can select two types of receipts. The default is a paper tape style document. This can be used with a standard 8.5 X 11 printer, but it is designed to be used with a receipt printer. In order for CyberTime to use a paper tape receipt printer, it must use standard windows drivers that appear in the printers folder under the control panel.

The next section deals with a document that can be produced to provide a user with his or her account information. If you want this document to be printed each time an account is created or updated, select the Account Data Auto-Print When User Account Created check box. You will also be asked to provide a printer to send this document to. The account report prints out in the form of a paper tape receipt format, however, it will also work for standard 8.5 x 11 printers as well. The account information document will show the user his or her user name, password, account type, how much time is on the account (if applicable), time charge rates and other account information.

NOTE: The Auto-Create account feature for CyberTime will automatically print an account document for each account IF it is selected to create more than one account. (See Accounts Manager Documentation / Creating Accounts From Templates)

The next section deals with a time block account creation. Activating this option will allow a Time Block account to be created or edited without specifying a charge for the time. If this option is not selected, a Time Block account can not be created or edited without some charge being applied to the time.

The last section is used to set the Master User Name and Password. Enter whatever account information is most secure for your situation. Make sure you remember these account properties. Once saved, not even CyberTime tech support can decrypt the account information.

Workstation Configuration

The workstation configuration allows security and functionality features to be configured.

The first area is for the option of showing the disclaimer when the user logs on to a workstation. Selecting this option will present the user with the HTML designed disclaimer (See Accounts Manager / Disclaimer Page) when the user logs in. When this occurs, the user will not be permitted to continue until the user click a continue button. If this option is not selected, the user will be taken directly to the timer window after a correct user name and password have been entered and processed.

The next section deals with the way that a Customer Monitor handles a flat rate type account. As is now the default (unchecked), a user can log on with a flat rate type account, accrue a charge, logoff, and log back in to begin a new charge session. If this option is checked, a user's account will be deactivated upon logoff. The account will have to be reactivated by the Accounts Manager before the user can log on again.

The next section allows an HTML file to be displayed as a background at the login screen. This can be used to display your company logo, announcements or whatever custom needs are required. The HTML file must be located in the server's C:\CT6\Server\Background folder. When the Customer Monitor runs, it will initialize and copy over to the workstation all of the files in the C:\CT6\Server\Background subfolder and implement the HTML file listed below.

The next section is an option for workstation bill printing. If this option is selected, a workstation will print a bill to the printer specified during the Customer Monitor / Workstation package software installation. There also is the option for a paper tape receipt style or a 8.5 X 11. In order for a paper tape receipt type printer to be used, it must have a standard windows driver that can be shared across the network.

The next section is a new feature to CyberTime 6. You now have the option of warning a user with a time block account before he or she is about to run out of time. The warning message is box visual and audio (if a sound card is installed). Selecting this option will provide the warning to the set at the time specified with the slider button below the check box. If this option is not selected, the user will not be warning on the impending logoff.

The next section is also a new CyberTime 6 feature. CyberTime 6 can monitor printer activity for one default printer for a workstation. Selecting this option will turn on the printer monitoring feature and allows a charge to be specified for the printed documents. Charged are accrued by the number of pages printed and will be present on the user's bill upon logoff.
